DR. ASHRAF MOZAYANI
Founder & Principal Consultant, International Forensic Science Consultants
Ashraf Mozayani, Pharm.D., Ph.D., F-ABFT, is a board-certified forensic toxicologist with more than 30 years of experience in forensic laboratories and courtrooms. She founded International Forensic Science Consultants in 1999 to put that experience to work for attorneys, courts, laboratories, and governments. For about 16 years, she was Laboratory Director and Chief Toxicologist at the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, one of the largest forensic laboratories in the country, where she built quality programs to meet the ISO/IEC 17025 standard and served as an accreditation assessor and inspector. She now also applies the ISO 21043 forensic science standards across their five parts, from evidence collection through analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
She has testified as an expert in state, federal, and U.S. military courts, served on the Texas Forensic Science Commission under two governors, advised the U.S. Department of Justice in ten countries, and in 2026 was named to the Scientific Council of the Institute of Forensic Sciences at the European Public Law Organization in Athens. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta and a Pharm.D. from the University of Tehran, is a Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and has written or edited eight books on forensic toxicology and evidence.
For IFSC clients, she provides expert toxicology testimony and case review, independent scientific review of forensic procedures and results, accreditation guidance for laboratories, and training for legal and law enforcement teams — always explaining complex science in plain, unbiased language so clients know exactly what the evidence shows.
DR. DOUGLAS POSEY
Forensic Pathology Consultant, International Forensic Science Consultants
Dr. Douglas H. Posey is a board-certified pathologist in Forensic, Anatomic, and Clinical Pathology, and is also board-certified in Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine. He brings decades of forensic and hospital pathology experience to International Forensic Science Consultants, where he consults on death investigation, autopsy review, and laboratory pathology matters. Dr. Posey served as an Associate Medical Examiner with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Decatur, Georgia, and previously practiced at the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences in Houston, Texas. Earlier in his career he was a Pathologist and Medical Laboratory Director at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, Mississippi, and an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Alcorn State University and his Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Posey has published and presented numerous articles in forensic and general pathology. He is a retired Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a former Fellow of both the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
